At the center of this Madison Avenue apartment is the kitchen, around which the foyer, living room, dining room, and bedroom are arranged. French doors and pivoting panels are used to close off rooms or open them up to one another in various configurations and spatial sequences. ACHA’s ability to change the sequences of rooms makes this otherwise small apartment perform like a much larger one, allowing it to be a social hub for its clients, a museum director and philosophy professor.

Madison I / Upper East Side

When the opportunity to purchase an apartment adjacent to theirs presented itself to these long-time clients of ACHA, they called Höcek to design a renovation that would combine the two spaces and incorporate his earlier design of their existing home.
